Introduction to Web Design

This course is an interdepartmental Business, English, Tech Ed and Art elective. In this one-semester course, students will develop the basic skills necessary for creating an effective web design. Students will become familiar with the MacromediaDreamweaver environment and create web pages by typing and formatting text, importing graphics, adding links, building tables, using frames, and uploading files to a remote server.

Students will work on individual as well as team based projects. Student projects will range from basic personal profile and on-line resume pages to more creative and conceptual pieces designed to tell stories or promote a commercial endeavor. An outcome of this class is to produce portfolio quality Web sites, therefore students will abide by copyrights laws. Students must include in their Web sites only original art, and photographs. Also, all writing content must be quoted and footnoted when it is derived from secondary resources. All projects will be posted online for the public to view.

Throughout their projects, class exercises, homework and quizzes, students will demonstrate good work ethics, leadership, initiative, teamwork, dependability, discipline, self-management, accountability and responsibility.
