Pull
Down Guides
Use pull down guides to seperate your
navigation and head graphics from your page content. You
can use guides by pulling from the rulers on the top or
left of the Photoshop document. If you don't have rulers
displayed, go to View-->Show Rulers. Also, make sure
you have Show Guides active (also under the View pulldown
menu).
This is the inside mockup of the Services
page. Hidden in the layers of the Photoshop document are
the ON versions of each of the side buttons (and the OFF
version of the Services button) as well as the title graphic
for each of the inside pages (this one just says "Services"
next to the logo).
How do you know where to draw your guides?
Draw your guides to seperate each of
the navigation buttons (in this example, the buttons are
on the left, and the horizontal guides seperate each button
in the navigation) as well as any heading graphic that will
be placed on the page-- Here I want the following part of
the layout to be the heading graphic:
Your guides will extend across or down
the entire page, it's okay that there is a guide that splits
this graphic, we will ignore that later. The important thing
is that the guides are there to help you make precise rectangular
"slices" of your layout.
Save your Photoshop layout in your raw_Photoshop
folder on your zip disk.
