Steps for Completing your Project Web Site

Perfect the template

Once you have made it through Step 9, and constructed the tables to hold your layout together-- the rest of the ride is downhill.

Now we want to insert the navigation graphics into our navigation table

1. Add Navigation Rollover Graphics

Click inside the first row of the 7-row navigation table and select the Insert Rollover Image icon from the Objects palette, or go to Insert-->Interactive Images-->Rollover Image.

Rollover images must have a name, and you must specify a file to link to when clicked.

You should already know the names of all of your files even though you haven't created them yet, because you made these decisions when you made a chart for your Architecture.

Insert all of your navigation graphics in this way.

2. Specify Page Properties

Go to Modify-->Page Properties

a. Give your page a title (Your title should be descriptive of the page, don't just put "about" instead put "About Eldertek, inc." or "How To Choose The Right Snowboard For You"

b. Insert your background image (created in step 8)

c. Choose a link color, viewed link color, active link color and text color

Notice here the background image doesn't exactly measure up with the design, even though we measured it by following all the steps in step 8.

Go back in to Page Properties (Modify-->Page Properties)

Enter zero for Left Margin and Top Margin

This aligns the content inside the page body to the top and left without a border.

3. Add Meta Tags

Meta tags help search engines index your page. Add meta tags for a page description, and for keywords.

Change the Object palette from Common to Head

Click Insert Keywords, and then type keywords that people might type into a search engine when looking for a site like yours. Seperate the keywords with commas.

Click Insert Description and insert a brief one sentence description of your site.

4. Add anything else to the template that you want to appear on every page.

Maybe you will have a text navigation at the bottom of each page (like this site does) or maybe you want to have an email link at the bottom of every page.

By taking the time to think about all of the little details that you want to appear on every page, you will save yourself the time later on when you'll have to go into every page individually and add it.

5. Save your file.

Go to File-->Save

6. Test in both browsers

Be sure to test this page in both browsers to make sure it looks right in both Explorer and Netscape.
